A Thanksgiving Prayer for God’s Blessing on our Land by Matthew Henry
Matthew Henry leads Christians to honor our sovereign Lord for the share he has given us of the public plenty and peace.
“Every time we eat our bread in quietness, we bless you for the good land you have given us. Your eyes are always attentive to the needs of this land from the beginning of the year to its end. You have … filled us with the finest grains from our fields. We will rehearse your righteous acts, for we are free from the whiz of arrows shot by archers whenever we go to draw water. We thank you that the governing authorities set over us are your ministers to us for good. They have been appointed to seek the welfare of our people, maintaining peace for the generation to come.”
Deut. 8:10; 11:12; Psa. 147:14; Judg. 5:11; Rom. 13:4; Esther 10:3.
