God’s Hand of Providence in the New Year
What can you be sure will happen in your life during 2024? Consider the sure role of God’s hand of providence.
Esther 4:1-17
Some have suggested that the book of Esther could not be inspired of God. You read through the whole of the book and not one time do you see God's name mentioned. How could a book be inspired of God and never mention God? Well, God's signature may not be found in the book of Esther, but his handwriting is on every page. In similar fashion, God's hand of providence may be seen in the lives of his people. God may not always be whispering in your ear saying, “I did this, I'm doing that, this is why these things are happening.” But you can be assured that God's handwriting will be clear to the man of faith.
What you have in the book of Esther is the Old Testament version of Romans 8:28. We hope that some things work together for good to.... No, that's not right, is it? We know that some things work together for good to them that love.... No, that’s not right either. We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Notice how God's hand of providence works in the book of Esther. Then by faith apply that truth to all your expectations for the coming year.
First, God places his people where he wishes.
Secondly, God restrains his enemies as he wishes.
And thirdly, God's hand of providence orders even the smallest events for his own glory, for the good of his people, and for the worldwide spread of the gospel.
